Current State of the Nursery
The dilapidated Eton Nursery has been an eye sore in our park for several years. It has been broken into, set on fire and has had children’s climbing the roof. There were plans to demolish the nursery in late 2008 and landscape the area. This was stopped with the support of the residents and community groups by Friends of Eton Grove Park by putting pressure on Brent council. It was agreed to look for an alternate plan because once it was demolished it would never be rebuilt same as what happened with the pavilion we had for our cricket pitch years ago. A few months later the Nursery was put out to tender by Brent Council for a group or organisation to rebuilt it.
The new wooden structure and play areas will replace the Merley Youth Club building in Wimborne.
Down in the Woods pre-school and nursery, which provides day-care at the facility, will operate from the new building after the summer holidays.
Work is already under way at the site with the new building expected to be completed by 15 September.
